Choosing the right massage chair can be a difficult and time consuming process. But that’s okay, we are here to help. We’ll try to help you find the chair that’s right for you. We’ve reviewed quite a variety of massage chairs. They range from quite reasonably priced to extremely expensive. The massage chairs we’ve reviewed also have a wide range of features as well.
So how can you choose the right chair for you? Well we’ve selected one chair from each price range. One luxury chair, one mid-priced chair and one budget chair. Here’s our picks for you. You can click the pictures to see our full review of each chair.
Our luxury pick: The Inada Sogno Dreamwave
This chair can’t be beat with the versatility it offers. You can really personalize it for your specific tastes. It boasts more than one thousand different massage combinations. You can really get a customized massage that is exactly what you want.
But what if you want just a preprogrammed massage and can’t be bothered with messing with a lot of settings? Well the Dreamwave has you covered there as well. There are eight preprogrammed health massage routines and four well-being programs. So you’ll be able to punch up a program and relax, without worrying about taking the time to program exactly what you want. It even has a youth massage program with a gentler massage.
Another great thing about the Sogno Dreawave is that with 1,200 sq inch massage coverage it is the most thorough massage chair on the market.
The Inada company is a Japanese company specifically focused on making massage chairs and are renowned for making quality massage chairs. The company was founded in 1962 and the Dreamwave is their flagship product.
The Sogno Dreamwave (HCP-10001A) received 2009 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovation Honors and was a 2009 American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) Pinnacle Award finalist. You can find out more about the company on Wikipedia.
The quality and luxury of the Dreamwave don’t come cheap though. With a price ranging from $9,000 to $7,000, it’s not the most expensive chair we have reviewed, but it definitely isn’t cheap. That being said, it’s definitely the best chair that we have reviewed. And if you are looking for the best massage chair on the market, this is the one you are looking for.

Our mid-range pick: The Osaki OS-4000
Osaki is well known for putting out some great massage chairs. The level of quality in the chairs they produce is close to Inada and they have a wide selection of chairs to choose from. The OS-4000 is one of their less expensive chairs, but it still packs a lot of great features for the price. It usually runs about $6,000 to $3000, so make sure to shop around and get a chair in the 3k range instead of the 6k range.
So what makes this chair our mid-range pick?
This chair packs a serious punch for the price. It has a lot of features you won’t find in a lot of other mid-range chairs, features that are normally only in more luxury massage chair models.
For example, it has a body scan feature to tailor the massage it gives you to your specific body shape. It also reclines to a zero gravity position that takes the pressure off of your spine and makes for a truly relaxing massage experience. Add all of the amazing features together with the quality workmanship of Osaki and you are getting a lot of value for the money you are spending.
Another great thing about the chair is that the calf rest is adjustable and the chair width can also be adjusted. This means that it will fit lots of different body types. So you don’t have to worry so much about getting a chair that doesn’t feel right. Combine the physical customization to the body scan feature and you get a massageexperience that is just right for you.

Our budget pick: The BestMassage EC-06c
So our budget pick was a little bit hard to choose, because the EC-06c comes with some great benefits but also has some serious draw backs.
First the good things about this massage chair.
Well, simply put, no other chair in its price range ($900) comes anywhere close to this chair in the amount of features it has. Of course when compared to more expensive chairs it does fall short in some areas. But when compared with chairs of a similar price it really does blow them out of the water.
It provides massaging functions for your legs, arms, body, and neck. It has multiple airbags, heat therapy, and six types of massaging action. It really does pack a serious punch for the price. You can learn more about its features in our BestMassage EC-06c massage chair review.
So how about the drawbacks? Why is this chair so cheap?
The problem is that this chair doesn’t come from a specific company. It’s a generic chair that is manufactured and sent out to resellers. That means that if something goes wrong with the chair it’s up to the customer to get it taken care of. The reseller may or may not help. The chair does come with a warranty, but unless you want to deal directly with the Chinese manufacturer you may have a hard time getting the warranty honored.
That being said, the chair does have over 100 reviews on Amazon and vast majority of the reviews are positive. So you might not have any problem with the chair. Most customers seem to be completely satisfied with their purchase. But it is something to be aware of.
If you are looking for a chair put out by an established company to back it up you might check out the iJoy massage chair line that Human Touch has to offer. The iJoy massage chairs range in price from $500 – $900, but they lack almost all of the features that the EC-06c has.
What about other massage chairs?
We know that our three picks won’t be right for everyone. That’s why we’ve reviewed a lot of chairs, and detailed the pros and cons of each. We know that everyone is looking for something different in a massage chair.
For example, everyone values different features in a different way. Some features that are optional for some people, are deal breakers for others. Looking for a luxury chair but really want a head massage because you get frequent headaches? The Osaki OS-7075R is probably a better choice for you than the Sogno Dreamwave. What about if calming light and sound are very important for you? You’ll probably want the Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber.
Not everyone needs a lot of features either. How about if you are looking for a cheap chair that just has some really basic massage functions? The iJoy Active 2.0 might be right for you. It’s the cheapest massage chair we have come across, but it’s definitely a well made and stylish chair plus it has some great reviews from customers on Amazon.
