The iJoy Active 2.0 is a great little massage chair from Human Touch, designed to give powerful performance without taking up too much space. Stand-out features of this popular chair include the customizable massage settings and its compact design: the iJoy Active shows that you can choose a smaller chair without compromising on strength.
Human Touch iJoy Active 2.0 features
The Active 2.0 doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as some of the higher priced massage chairs like the BestMassage EC-06c. But what it does, it does well. We’ve highlighted below what we consider to be the best features of the iJoy Active 2.0. But you can find even more about all it’s features in the iJoy Active 2.0 owner’s manual.
FlexGuide Orbital Massage
A massage chair should be much more than just a place to sit: you want to really feel the benefits. The iJoy’s internal massage system uses unique FlexGuide technology to deliver an orbital massage through your chair. Based on the work of professional massage therapists and focusing on areas of the spine and muscular structure that take the most wear and tear, the iJoy 2.0 aims to deliver fast-acting relief to strained and tired muscles through deep massage and vibration.
What feels good for one person may not to another, and we all want different things from a good massage. That’s why the customize feature of the iJoy Active is so useful. Alongside the three pre-set massage programs offered by the chair, you can use the controls to create your own routines. Concentrate on a deep shoulder massage, adjust the roller width to hit those problem areas or simply lower the settings for a more relaxing massage: it’s up to you.
Recline to 45 degrees with the iJoy Active
Your massage chair should be the most comfortable seat in the house, and what could be more comfortable than laying back and letting the massage chair take over? You can enjoy 45 degree relaxation with the iJoy Active 2.0 – perfect after a workout or a long day at work. If you’ve struggled to find enough space for a reclining chair in your home, the compact iJoy could change that.
Tethered controller and on-board storage
Losing your chair controller is a frustrating experience, so the tethered controls of the iJoy Active 2.0 are a simple but important feature. Now you’ll always have fingertip access to your settings. The chair also features a storage compartment for the controller when it’s not in use, so you’re not left with unsightly buttons and wires hanging loose.
- Three automatic massage programs plus custom options
- Combines roller massage with vibration massage
- Width adjustment to concentrate and change massage focus
- A compact chair design, ideal for smaller living spaces
- Small size means it’s not ideal for anyone over 6’1”
- Strong massage settings can be uncomfortable
- Limited warranty reduces cover
If you’re looking for the ultimate in comfort and extravagance, you might find the iJoy Active 2.0 to be lacking those wow factors you want in a massage chair. High-end models offer everything from built-in speakers to aromatherapy benefits, and the iJoy certainly doesn’t have any of these extras. However, you’ll be looking to pay a lot more for a chair that does everything, while the iJoy 2.0 offers exceptional massage capabilities despite its budget-friendly price tag. If you are looking for a similar chair that does just a bit more, you might try other chairs in the iJoy line. You can check out our reviews the iJoy 2580 or the iJoy 2310 and see which iJoy works best for you.
What customers think about the iJoy Active 2.0
The response to the iJoy Active 2.0 is largely positive, and it seems most customers are buying based on the reviews of others. Although some found that the chair was too small for them, those under 6 feet tend to get more out of the product and feel its benefits more. Some found that the massage feature was a little intense and even sore at times, but others state that the deep massage soon becomes soothing once you’ve got used to it. Another popular feature was the simple self-assembly, allowing for easy delivery. Arriving in pieces, the chair can be set up in any room of the house and is sure to fit in even the most awkward of spaces comfortably.
“I just received it today and assembled it right away. It was very simple because I can lift it up on my own. I didn’t need any instruction and, voila, it was done in 5 minutes.” – KOSMOS
“My wife and I cannot get over how well it works the muscles out, it hurts at first until you get used to it because it really gets into the muscles.” – Ryan Perri
“Although there are 3 programs you really can’t control the intensity of the massage unless you place some padding or blankets behind you. 1st day I got a massage from one of the programs and the next day I was a bit sore in my back.” – Jarius B. King
Reactions are mixed to the chair’s massage programs, though all agree that the function is certainly strong. Some feel that the intense massage is more painful than effective, while others found that the soreness subsided after a couple of days and the chair really started to make an impact.

Who the iJoy Active 2.0 is for
If you want a massage chair but have a smaller space to contend with, or if you want great performance on a budget, then consider purchasing the iJoy 2.0. Not only does it offer impressive massage capabilities but with its smaller size and depth, it can be squeezed into apartments and little houses where space is at a premium. Some massage chairs focus more on other features than they do on delivering a good massage: the iJoy Active aims to change that by highlighting their massage feature and working on its effectiveness. If you want a chair that can make an impact on those knotted muscles, this could be the chair for you.
Who this chair is NOT for
While the massage feature is strong and reliable, it’s also not for the fainthearted! If you prefer your massage chairs to be a little more comfortable and relaxing, the deep massage of the iJoy 2.0 could be a shock to the system. You might try a chair with adjustable strength, like the Cozzia 16028.The chair is also not the best choice for taller or heavier people, as the smaller dimensions limit what the chair can do for bigger users. Although the chair does boast a width adjustment feature, this is of little help to anyone over 6ft tall. If you are looking for a chair that adjusts to height you might consider the BestMassage EC-03.
The iJoy Active 2.0 may not be the fanciest chair on the market and it certainly doesn’t come with a long list of extra features, but it does give some great massage benefits. This chair doesn’t aim to replace your regular easy chair and you probably won’t use it for a regular sit down, but when it comes to giving you a thorough massage this is one of the better budget contenders out there.
Stylish and compact, this modern massage chair is a great choice if you’re seeking a seat for under $500. Although the chair may be too small for some, if the dimensions suit you then you could get a lot of use out of the iJoy 2.0.
